The Schützen SP-MGTVOC gas detector is highly regarded for marine applications, offering reliable performance in inert environments and cargo monitoring while meeting IMO regulation XI/1/7.
Schützen SP-MGTVOC with a pump built in are suitable for pre-inert entry work. They allow for easy sampling up to 23 meter of prior to entry, and if used during work in the vessel they will result in quicker response. The SP-MGTVOC is designed with Infra-red sensor, where the infrared beam will be broken by intruding gas and It is not affected by a lack of oxygen. It’s all-in one.
VOC Detection in Marine Industry
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) detection in the marine industry is crucial for several reasons, including environmental protection, worker safety, and regulatory compliance. VOCs
are emitted from fuels, oils, paints, and other chemicals commonly used on ships, in ports, and during the maintenance of vessels. Detecting and managing VOCs effectively help mitigate their harmful effects.
Sources of VOCs
Fuel and Engine Emissions: VOCs are present in exhaust gases from ships’ engines and fuel systems, especially from diesel engines.
Cargo Handling: VOCs are released during the loading and unloading of volatile cargo, especially in the case of petroleum or chemical tankers.
Maintenance and Coatings: VOCs are also released during the application of paints, coatings, and other chemicals used for vessel maintenance.
Waste Treatment: VOCs can be emitted from waste treatment systems on board, including those that handle sewage and bilge water.
