Ethanol C2H5OH
Presentation and danger of Ethanol (C2H5OH)
Also known as ethyl alcohol (or simply alcohol), ethanol is a primary alcohol that appears as a colorless, volatile, water-miscible liquid, miscible with most common solvents. Under normal conditions, it is a stable product that can strongly react with powerful oxidizing agents. Ethanol is used in the food industry for the production of spirits, and in the perfume, pharmaceutical and industrial paint sectors. It is also found in the oil industry for the production of bioethanol.
Ethanol is a highly flammable product that can form an explosive mixture with air. The vapors emitted can also cause flashbacks.
